Course Description

This course enables the student to configure, maintain and manage the VPN Router family of products. As well as its firewall, routing, security, network management and LAN/WAN capabilities. Through lecture and hands-on exercises, the student will examine the full set of hardware and software features. Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:

  • Describe various types of Virtual Private Network architecture
  • Identify the VPN Router family of products, its features  and list their placement in different networks
  • Complete configurations by use of the CLI & BBI interface of the Avaya VPN Router and backups
  • Design and implement a remote access and branch office tunnel using IPSec, L2TP, and L2TP over IPSec protocols
  • Explain the tools available to troubleshoot the operation of tunnels
  • Configure the VPN Router in a routed environment
  • Describe and configure the Avaya VPN Router’s firewall features
  • Describe and configure the VPN Router’s advanced features such Quality of Service, load sharing, VRRP, failover, LDAP authentication, TunnelGuard, and 802.1Q VLAN Routing

Intended Audience

This course is for technical professionals who are implementing and maintaining Avaya’s VPN Router as a security gateway between their private networks and/or between a private network and a public network.

Prerequisite Skills

The prerequisites for this course are a practical understanding of Layer 2 and 3 protocols; and experience with networking infrastructure products including bridges, switches, and routers. Also solid understanding of TCP/IP and web based protocols including HTTP and HTTPS.
